Returning home to an unpleasant surprise posted on 05/16/2008
I was abroad in Florence for the semester and thus, the beginning of the baseball season. Even overseas, I couldn't help but walk around with my head held high as a Yankees fan. One of my good friends Madelyn, a native mass-hole, began to taunt me in late April about early signs of yet another dissappointing Yankees season. As my familiar comebacks of "We've won 26 championships--comepare the rings", "I don't care if Steinbrenner uses money to put together a team, we are clearly the most talented", and "Shut up, I freaking hate Boston" got weaker and weaker, I looked to my only source of Yankees coverage, the internet, for support. With a winning percentage under .500, A-Rod's injuries, and Phil Hughs down for the second consecutive season, my ability to battle against the tourment of my Boston born friend lost momentum.
