1. NY Giants: Their only loss came to the Browns, who proved once again this week, that they can win big games every so often without reason. The Giants dominated a stellar Ravens defense, doused a red hot offense, and the scary part is, is that Eli Manning didn't even need to throw two TD's.
2. Titans: Just because you're undefeated doesn't mean you get the number one spot, they beat the Jaguars, normally a good win; but we all know now, that the Jags aren't any good. But as long as either the running or passing game shows up to a game, the Titans won't have any issues until the playoffs.
3. Steelers: Throughout the San Diego game, all you heard was, it's a tough defensive game. Pitt might have managed just 11, but Big Ben threw for 308 yards on his shoulder. This team is better then their last three games.
4. Panthers: Always shocked to see them up this high, and they are without a doubt a defense first team, which was clear when they beat the lowly Lions by 9, and Delhomme threw for just 98 yards. Only an 8-2 record allows them to be number 4.
5. NY Jets: Doubtful anyone saw the two NY teams in the top five, but their win against the Patriots proved that this team is money. An explosive offense and good special teams, but the defense let up 400 passing yards to the new kid on the block.
6. Cardinals: Unlikely is a light term to use, when talking about the possibility of the Cardinals being the first to clinch a division in the NFL, but it's clear Kurt Warner is more then just a four game QB. And finally the WR tandem is paying off in Arizona.
7. Buccaneers: They win in a different fashion each week, but give them credit for winning. Though like the Panthers, I question their team outside of defense. Jeff Garcia can only do so much, a running game must be established.
8. Colts: It's the third straight game the Colt's offense we are all used to, showed up to play. Houston is always a tough oppenent for Indy, but Manning and the Colt's are back on track, putting aside any unforeseen setbacks, the Colt's will easily win a wild card spot, with wins over the Steelers and Patriots in their back pocket.
9. Falcons: Sure they lost, but they didn't look bad in the process. Anytime they were down Matt Ryan led the comeback. They ran into a team that needed a win more then College Football needs a playoff system. The bad news for them is that they have a long road to a wild card spot. Either way an impressive team thus far.
10. Patriots: No question that the Pats took a huge hit this week. But the good news for the Patriots is that Matt Cassel is finally putting up Brady like numbers, the bad news is that Brett Favre got the ball first. Looks like the Colts and Patriots will be taking the AFC wild card spots.
