The fantasy side of life
Extended profile
Who am I?
Growing up in central New York state requires the most difficult of choices as an NFL fan: Bills or Giants? (Sorry Jets...that's a description, not an apology). That choice becomes easier once a child reaches his fifth year on this planet and has a rudimentary sense of reasoning. Go Big Blue! Undoubtedly my 20+ years of fanaticism ultimately led Eli Manning on one of the greatest Super Bowl drives ever. My championship ring must still be in the mail.
I now live in Texas and relish every Dallas Cowboys defeat and the self-flagellating postgame coverage every Texas football know-how has to offer.
A severe addiction to fantasy football has afflicted me and there can never be any satisfaction. That is, until you find the ridiculousness of this circus sideshow of a game and its unfortunate parallels in non-fantasy (i.e., "real") life.
I am here to help you take 5 minutes from your day to enjoy all that fantasy football has to offer, and then take another 25 minutes to complain about how your opponent’s kicker scored more points than your stud, but it didn't matter anyways because your quarterback got injured during the second play from scrimmage.

Giants Football: Fantasy or Reality? posted on 09/18/2008
I grew up in a central New York state town called Auburn, home of the Maroons. Yes, our nickname was a color (actually, I guess we were multiple kinds of that color). Auburn is famous for first using the electric chair as a prison execution device, and for having a larger population of crows than humans (30,000 residents). But why do I speak of this?
That is an affliction of those who come from small towns. We always have to regale you with stories of the unimpressive, the lame. But sometimes this practice can be useful. Take this [likely] example of two recent, female community college graduates meeting for the first time at their new job in New York City:
Small-town girl #1: Tila Tequila went to my high school.
Small-town girl #2: Oh snap! That’s sooo awesome. Did you know her?

Sarah Palin affecting our fantasy football teams? posted on 09/16/2008
Can someone help me understand the goings-on of the NFL fantasy football season as it finishes the two week infant stage (diaper change needed)? And can someone help me understand the Sarah Palin craze sweeping the fantasy-laden minds of half the American electorate?
These two questions are swarming my daytime consciousness and my sleeping subconscious. Yes- it’s that bad. As an avid fantasy football athlete, I am striving to discover the failures of half this year’s first and second round “studs” (e.g., Addai, Jackson, LT, Brady- sorry Pats fans…too soon?) while searching for the innumerable waiver-wire wonders that seem to be dominating weekly match-ups (e.g., Aaron Rogers, Matt Forte). Likewise, as an average male in the U.S. citizenry, I am striving to avoid a requisite move to Canada in January 2009.
