I was glad in 05 when the Giants traded their pick for Eli, I didn't know Whale's Vagina would draft that steroid user, but otherwise, pretty bad draft at least in the first round. We got Webster, Tuck and Jacobs, good work Accorsi. Look at what the Boston Globe say:
Etc.
It wasn't a very good year
When the Bears released running back Cedric Benson last week, it highlighted how poorly the top draft selections from 2005 have fared in the NFL. Benson was the fourth selection in the draft, and he's now out of a job. Any of the league's other 31 clubs could have claimed him on waivers, and not one took the bait. Yet Benson isn't alone among top-10 picks looking to reemerge. Cornerback Pacman Jones (No. 6) and receivers Troy Williamson (No. 7) and Mike Williams (No. 10) are already with their second teams. Meanwhile, quarterback Alex Smith (No. 1) is in a battle to hold down the starting job in San Francisco, while Antrel Rolle (No. 8) is being moved to safety in Arizona after failing to excel at cornerback. It's difficult to criticize running backs Ronnie Brown (No. 2) and Cadillac Williams (No. 5) - as well as cornerback Carlos Rogers (No. 9) - who are attempting to come back from serious knee injuries that knocked them out in 2007. But at this point, other than Browns receiver Braylon Edwards (No. 3), this looks like the shakiest top 10 in recent memory. In a do-over, Cowboys outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware (No. 11) would probably be the No. 1 pick.

According to espn.com:
The Giants' turbulent off-season got another jolt this week when disgruntled tight end Jeremy Shockey and general manager Jerry Reese got into a shouting match at the team's minicamp, the Bergan (N.J.) Record reported.
Although the genesis of the diagreement is unknown, Shockey said last week he was unhappy the Giants made him sit in co-owner Steve Tisch's luxury box instead of letting him stay on the field during Super Bowl XLII. He also said Giants spread rumors he wanted a trade.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Shockey's mental state hasn't gotten much better during the three-day minicamp, which finished Friday at Giants Stadium .

"There is an issue, but it is not something that would prevent him from working," Coughlin told the Record.

Continue reading "Shockey and Reese get into shouting match"

Jeremy Shockey, not cleared to practice because of last season's ankle injury, remained indoors, despite Coach Tom Coughlin's wishes that he watch practice as other injured players did. Shockey has long been frustrated by his role with the team -- too much blocking, not enough pass catching, in his mind -- and asked to be traded this off-season.

shocking

As shown in the NY Daily News:

Jeremy Shockey does not sound like a happy camper. And the disgruntled tight end might not make it to the Giants' minicamp on Wednesday. Making his first public comments since breaking his leg last December, a defensive Shockey pointed the finger at the Giants for all the offseason speculation about his future and reported unhappiness. And, perhaps indicating a rift with the only pro team he has ever played for, Shockey left the question of whether he would attend the mandatory minicamp up in the air. "Unlike the Giants, I am going to be quiet. They have released multiple things about myself, and if you look back into the media (reports), there is always a source. Well, I would like to know who the source is. I haven't said one negative thing towards the Giants in the newspapers," he said.

Continue reading "Here we go big trouble with little Shockey"

Great move by Big Blue, rewarding David Diehl with a spankin new 6 year 30 million dollar deal today, or at least was announced today. Diehl was one several Big Blue players trying to cash in on the Super Bowl season and has done much deservingly so. They have moved him around to multiple positions on the line the last few years and its nice to see Reece taking care of one of his pieces. This will lend a nice amount of stability to a line that seems to be only getting better, though overshadowed by their counterparts on the defensive side of the ball.

The Giants recently ripped up the former left guard's old contract and rewarded him with a new six-year, $31 million contract. The key to the deal is annual escalator clauses that increase Diehl's salaries between $750,000 and $1.1 million a year as long as he plays offensive tackle.

Continue reading "Whats the Diehl Giants resign starting LT"

The Giants new Super Bowl ring certainly is going to have a lot of bling, 1.5 carats in DIAMONDS. Hopefully none of the players will need to pawn this off after their playing years, and if so, count me in at a discount rate. To get even more snazzier, the ring is being designed by renowned jeweler, Tiffany and Co. A brief description of the ring is:

The ring's top is covered in diamonds and features three Super Bowl trophies accented with marquise diamonds signifying the Giants' Super Bowl XXI, XXV and XLII victories. The team's "NY" logo is in bead set round diamonds, while "World Champions" is emblazoned in raised letters on the top and bottom bezel, with channel set diamonds on left and right bezel.

The ring's shanks celebrate the Giants' season, noting the team's "Eleven Straight on the Road," an NFL record; the NFL shield; and player name, along with player number in raised letters appear on one shank.

Continue reading "check out our BLING"
